Exchange Overview

Microsoft Exchange is a server software application that ties your users together through Outlook. Instead of each user having only their independent Outlook views with email, personal folders and calendars, Exchange ties all users together with shared public folders. With Exchange you have unlimited public:

• Tasks
• Calendars
• Contacts
  
• Mail Folders

Exchange provides granular control over who can access, edit, or delete its shared data. Exchange is also much, much more - see the feature set below for the many features of Exchange 2007. Note especially the Unified Messaging and Calendaring features.

Key facts regarding Exchange 2007:

• Exchange 2007 requires a 64 bit operating system. Most newer servers support 64 bit operation however,most operating systems currently installed are limited to 32 bit.


• Open license Windows Server can be run as 32 bit or 64 bit. Be careful in buying OEM (i.e. installed direct from Dell etc.) Windows server in that you will be limited to the 32 bit or 64 bit operating system you buy.
