| A steel distributor is operating on an outdated legacy system that runs on DOS. They use Microsoft Exchange for messaging and group collaboration. The web site is an NT based system running Active Server Pages and Microsoft SQL server.
The Problem: An urgent need for upgraded systems: 1) Web based inventory lookups based on data from the legacy system 2) Automated messaging when low inventory levels are reached, and 3) On-line order entry.
The Solution: By writing small and efficient applications EBS was able to tie the three systems together without replacing or rewriting existing legacy code. For messaging, the existing groupware (Microsoft Exchange) was used. For inventory, a simple application was written on the legacy application periodically transfer the data to SQL Server. The web site easily tied in to SQL server for the data queries.
EBS provided an easy to use and cost effective solution by integrating in place operational systems.
